Diesel Conversion Kit to use 100% Bio-Diesel Safely
Modern Thermal Design offers biodiesel mini-process plants once you make your own Biodiesel for your fleet or farm.
Modern Thermal Design uses Optimus Systems to allow your truck to run on 100% Biodiesel or regular diesel #2.
Can I get tax credits? Yes.
The cold truth: B100 with Optimus Technologies works at -30 °F. Optimus’ ability to thrive in cold weather was previously reinforced by pilot partner ADM, who noted that their five Optimus trucks performed flawlessly in -10°F temperatures in Central Illinois in February 2021. In addition, the company’s systems have been successfully used in snowplow fleets in communities such as Washington, D.C., and Ames, Iowa.
Biogenic Fuels: The Environmental and Energy Independence Case
Made from recycled cooking oil, agricultural byproducts, and waste animal fats, biogenic fuels are clean, renewable, and, typically domestically produced. They’ve been called out as a financially viable and immediate method to decarbonize by manufacturers such as Volvo and Cummins, major fleets, and trucking trade associations, including the American Trucking Association.
According to Scope Carbon Accounting and the Local Government Operations Protocol, the biogenic fuel used most often by Optimus, B100, reduces carbon by 100% compared to diesel, resulting in 2.5 times less CO2 than an Electric Vehicle. **
Benefits:
- Reduces carbon dioxide to near zero
- Cuts particulate matter in half compared to traditional diesel
- Meets engine certification requirements for NOx emissions
“The Optimus system provides a path toward lowering carbon emissions that can be employed soon with good results. We are happy to be able to install the system on new trucks,” said Mike Randolph, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Fontaine Modification.
A rigorous 16-month, 1.3-million-mile study conducted by ADM Trucking validated Optimus’ upgrade. Brandon Rick, Workstream Lead, Strategic Transformation, Transportation, for ADM Trucking, said, “Any fleet that intends to meet Scope 1 emissions goals should see Optimus as an immediate, viable means to make tomorrow’s goals real today.”
The carbon-reduction properties of biodiesel, a fuel made from recycled cooking oil, agricultural byproducts, and waste animal fats, are well documented. Nearly all of the most prominent Scope 1 carbon reporting standards find that biodiesel reduces Scope 1 carbon emissions by 100% compared to fossil diesel.
Optimus’ Ecosystem also includes a customer dashboard to monitor and report on fuel use and carbon reductions and a fuel management system to prevent driver refueling errors. At approximately $30,000 on average, the upgrade costs less than heavy-duty EVs, with Class 8 EV truck prices reaching nearly three times the cost of a base diesel truck. Optimus also compares favorably to the cost of other clean fuel engine technologies, especially considering the capital requirements for an entirely new refueling infrastructure.
